How we keep plugs honest
Plug only works if the prices are real. We protect you from fake plugs in layers: the system checks prices as they come in, other shoppers confirm or report it, and our team reviews anything suspicious.
Suspicious prices are caught as they come in
Once at least 5 people have plugged an item in the last 30 days, we compare every new price with what they paid. If it's more than 3ร the usual price, or less than a third of it, the plug is held back for review and its points don't count until our team looks at it. Too-good-to-be-true prices are a common way to lure buyers, so plugs from new members or online sellers are held at less than half the usual price. Cheap plugs that do go up are labelled "Much cheaper than usual".
No phone numbers or payment details in plugs
Plugs can't include phone numbers, account numbers, links, social handles or words like "DM me" or "pay first". A plug is just a price and a place, so nobody can use a fake bargain to get you to call or pay them.
Reused photos are caught automatically
Every photo gets a digital fingerprint when it's uploaded. If a new plug uses a picture that's already on Plug (even resized or re-saved), it's held for review and its points don't count until our team has compared the two.
Other shoppers confirm prices
Anyone who sees a plug can tap "I fit confirm this plug" or "Price don change" within 14 days. You can't confirm your own plug, and each person can only answer once per plug, so the "confirmed" count means real, separate people. Confirming only earns points once you've dropped 3 plugs of your own, so new throwaway accounts can't boost a friend, and we watch for people who keep confirming each other.
You can report anything that looks wrong
Every plug has a report button: wrong price, spam or offensive. Once 3 people report the same plug, it's taken off the feed straight away until our team has checked it.
Our team reviews behind the scenes
People review held and reported plugs, plus every new item and market added by newer members. Fake plugs are removed, and every point earned from them is taken back.
Limits stop spam
Nobody can drop more than 30 plugs a day, or the same item at the same place more than 5 times a week. Plugs can only be for things bought in the last 30 days, so prices stay fresh. Invite bonuses are only paid once a friend's plug is live, for up to 5 friends a week, never for links opened on your own phone, and they're taken back if the friend's plug is removed.
Prize winners are checked by a person
Before the weekly โฆ5,000 is paid, we look at the winner's plugs and photos ourselves. To qualify, plugs must be spread over 3 different days and 2 or more places, from an account at least 3 days old, so a week's worth of plugs can't be faked in one afternoon. We also look for signs of one person running several accounts. Fake or reused photos, or more than one account per person, mean disqualification.
Stay safe
- Plug never asks you to pay anyone. Nobody on Plug should ask you for money, a deposit or your bank details.
- Never pay before you see the item, especially for online sellers.
- If a price looks too good to be true, check the date and how many people confirmed it, and look for the "Much cheaper than usual" label.
- Something off? Report the plug and we'll take a look.
How you can help
- Confirm prices you've seen yourself. It takes one tap and earns you points.
- Report plugs that look wrong. Reports are private: the person who dropped it never sees who reported.
- Add a photo of the item or receipt when you drop. It makes your plug easier to trust.
Good to know
Plugs are shared by everyday shoppers, not by sellers or by us, and prices in Lagos change fast. Treat a plug as a strong hint, not a promise: check the date and how many people confirmed it, and expect some haggling on the day.
