Privacy notice

Plug is run by Boredget. We follow the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023. This page explains what we collect, why, and how to delete it.

What we collect

• Your nickname, and your home area if you choose one.
• A count of page visits, using a random ID stored in a cookie on your device. When you pick a nickname, that ID is saved with it so we can spot one person running several accounts; it's never shown to anyone. We don't store your IP address or device details.
• Your location, only if you tap "Plugs near me". Your phone rounds it to about 1 km before sending it, we use it to pick nearby areas, and we never store it. You can turn it off any time.
• Your plugs: the item, price, quantity, place, date and any notes or photos you add. Also your confirmations and reports.
• Your points, badges and streak.
• A sign-in cookie, so you stay signed in on your phone.

Why we collect it

To build a shared record of real Lagos prices that helps people stretch their budgets, and to run the points, badges and leaderboards. We use this price data to build Boredget's budgeting recommendations. We process your data based on the consent you give when you pick a nickname.

What other people can see

Your nickname, points, badges and plugs are public. We remove location data and other hidden details from photos before they're uploaded.

Who processes it for us

We store data with Supabase and host the site on Vercel. Their servers may be outside Nigeria; we only use providers that protect data to the standard the Act requires.

How long we keep it

Until you delete your account. After that we may keep price totals and averages that can't be traced back to you.

Your rights

You can see, correct or delete your data, and withdraw consent, at any time. Edit your nickname and area on your profile page. To delete everything, use "Delete my account and data" on your profile page. If you're unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.
